Commercial Solar O&M

Commercial Solar O&M Contractor San Diego

Your system is producing data. Is it producing the power it promised? RCH Renewables provides commercial solar maintenance and O&M contracts for retail chains and commercial properties across California. Our own crew does all the field work under our C-10 electrical license.

The problem

Most commercial solar systems underperform. Most owners don't know it.

A degraded string. A failed inverter. A monitoring dashboard showing green while production quietly drops. Most commercial O&M contracts are reviewed only when a bill looks wrong, and by then, the loss has already happened.

The harder problem: most contractors who installed your system are not set up to service it. They're sales organizations. The crew that did your install has moved on. When something fails, you're calling a call center.

SunPower filed for bankruptcy in August 2024. Thousands of commercial systems in Southern California lost their O&M provider overnight. We service SunPower-installed systems, regardless of who did the original install.

O&M scope

What does commercial solar O&M include?

Commercial solar O&M includes scheduled preventive maintenance, inverter monitoring and repair, performance analysis against modeled output, monthly KPI reporting, and SDG&E interconnection coordination when repairs require it. Corrective maintenance is covered under the same contract: when something breaks, the crew that maintains your system is the crew that fixes it. The full scope is broken out below.

Who we are

Who is RCH Renewables?

RCH Renewables is a C-10 licensed electrical contractor based in Fallbrook. We handle commercial solar O&M, scheduled maintenance, inverter repair, and performance monitoring for commercial properties across California, from Clovis south and Calexico west. Our O&M clients include a national grocery chain operating multiple locations, a regional healthcare provider across 9 of their sites, and a nationwide EPC that trusts us with project variety ranging from panel removal and reinstallation, inverter swaps, and corrective maintenance, including a 717kW rooftop in the Redwoods. They went through formal vendor qualification processes. We passed.

Our own crew, start to finish.

Every technician who shows up is an RCH employee working under our C-10 license, not a subcontractor routed through a dispatch system. You know who is coming. We know your system.

We report what matters.

Monthly KPI reports include uptime percentage, performance ratio (PR), and open tickets by priority. Not just kWh, the metrics your facilities team can actually use in a corporate sustainability update.

We respond.

Critical fault response within one business day. Standard service within 3-5 business days. Landon Raster manages our commercial accounts. You get a named contact, not a call center.

What's included

What Our O&M Contracts Cover

Scheduled Preventive Maintenance

Annual or semi-annual site visits. Panel cleaning, torque checks, electrical connection inspection, combiner box review, and performance baseline comparison. Scheduled around your operating hours.

Inverter Monitoring and Repair

String-level and inverter-level monitoring with active fault alerts. Inverter repair and replacement handled under your O&M contract. We stock common parts and keep response times tight.

Performance Analysis

Monthly production review against modeled output. If your system is underperforming, we find out why: IV curve tracing, thermography, shade analysis, documented root cause.

SunPower System Service

We service SunPower-installed commercial systems regardless of original installer. SunPower filed for bankruptcy in August 2024. If your O&M provider disappeared, we can step in.

Interconnection and Utility Coordination

When repairs require utility coordination with SDG&E, we handle it. We know the interconnection process and the local AHJ contacts.

Monthly KPI Reporting

Uptime %, performance ratio (PR), and open tickets by priority. Formatted for corporate sustainability updates. Not just kWh totals.

What size systems do you service?

We service commercial solar systems from 30 kW rooftops to multi-megawatt ground-mount sites, regardless of who installed them. Our largest site work, corrective and repair on sites up to 9.8MW, was performed as a service subcontractor to a national solar operator. If it's a commercial solar system, we can work on it. That includes orphaned SunPower systems: if SunPower installed your array and your O&M coverage vanished after the August 2024 bankruptcy, we take over service no matter who did the original work.

Credentials

National chains have formal vendor qualification processes. We've passed them.

Commercial O&M clients evaluate contractors the same way they evaluate any critical vendor: references, insurance, license verification, response time SLAs, and technical competency.

Existing systems

Already have a commercial system? We can take over your O&M.

If your current O&M provider has gone quiet, or your system has never had a formal maintenance contract, we start with a paid site assessment: full system inspection, performance review against original design, and a written findings report.

From there, you get a contract with documented SLAs, a named account manager, and monthly KPI reports. No sales handoffs. The person who does your assessment is the person who manages your account.

Book a Paid Site Assessment

What does a commercial solar site assessment cost?

Service area

Commercial solar O&M across Southern California

We serve commercial solar systems in San Diego, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Los Angeles, and Imperial counties, plus the Central Valley south of Fresno. On a map, that runs from Clovis south and Calexico west. Our base is in Fallbrook, in North County San Diego.

SDG&E interconnection

Our home territory is SDG&E. When a repair or inverter swap requires utility coordination, we handle the interconnection process ourselves and know the local AHJ contacts. That is already part of our O&M scope, not an extra.

NEM 3.0 export economics

Under NEM 3.0, exported power earns well below retail rates, so every kWh your system fails to produce gets replaced with expensive grid power. Downtime costs more than it used to. That is the economic case for maintenance.

Rule 21 requirements

Commercial systems interconnect under CPUC Rule 21. Equipment replacements, inverter swaps in particular, have to stay compliant with Rule 21 requirements. We manage that as part of the repair, not as your problem.

For facilities teams

What to ask any commercial solar O&M contractor

Before signing an O&M agreement with any provider, facilities teams should ask these five questions. Here is how we answer each one.

1

Will your own employees do the field work, or subcontractors?

Our own employees, always. Every technician on your site is an RCH employee working under our C-10 license (#1108682). There is no subcontractor between you and the licensed technician on site.

2

Can I own my raw monitoring data if I switch providers?

Yes. Monitoring comes with client portal access you control, so your raw production data stays yours if you ever change providers.

3

What is your average response time for an inverter failure?

We dispatch within one business day for inverter faults. If parts have to be ordered from the manufacturer, the ETA is communicated the same day as diagnosis. We do not quote repair windows that pretend parts arrive instantly.

4

Who is my single point of contact, and what happens if they leave?

Landon Raster, President of RCH Renewables, manages our commercial accounts. He is an owner, not an assigned rep. Every work order is logged in our CMMS (Jobber), so your account history does not live in one person's memory.

5

Can you provide a reference from a commercial client in my industry?

Yes, on request. Our O&M clients span grocery retail, healthcare, self storage, and EPC subcontract work. Ask and we will provide client references.

Common Questions

What facility managers and property owners ask before signing.

Do you service systems you didn't install?

Yes. If it's a commercial solar system, we can work on it, regardless of original installer. That includes SunPower, Enphase, SMA, SolarEdge, and Fronius systems, and equipment whose manufacturer no longer exists. We start with a site assessment to document current system state.

What does a monthly KPI report include?

Uptime percentage, performance ratio (PR), open tickets by priority, and production vs. modeled output. Reports are formatted to paste into corporate sustainability updates.

Do you handle SDG&E interconnection issues?

Yes. SDG&E interconnection and utility coordination is included in our O&M scope when repairs require it.

What is your service area for commercial O&M?

San Diego, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Los Angeles, and Imperial counties, plus the Central Valley south of Fresno. Our base is in Fallbrook but our commercial O&M work takes us across the state. Contact us to confirm coverage for your location.

What happens if you can't fix something onsite?

We document the failure, order parts under your contract terms, and communicate a return timeline. Parts delays are communicated the same day we identify them.
