In central Escondido, the electrical panel usually comes first
Central Escondido has a lot of older housing, and older homes often still run on 100-amp panels. A modern load, whether that is a dedicated EV charging circuit, a battery, or a solar backfeed, needs capacity that panel may not have. Quoting solar or a charger without checking the panel first is how projects stall.

Inland heat, honest siting
Escondido summers run hot. Heat trims panel efficiency and works equipment harder, so we plan for it: string sizing that accounts for hot-weather voltage, inverters mounted out of direct afternoon sun, and battery placement in the garage or on a shaded wall rather than a west-facing exposure. Mature trees in the older neighborhoods can also shade roofs, and we assess that upfront, not after you have signed.
Why battery backup is the key move under NEM 3.0
Under NEM 3.0, solar without battery storage exports daytime energy back to SDG&E at roughly $0.05-0.08 per kWh. Then you buy that same electricity back during the 4-9pm peak window at $0.66/kWh. Battery storage closes that gap: store your daytime production and use it in the evening instead of buying from the grid at peak rates.
The math bites harder inland. Escondido's hot summers mean air conditioning, and air conditioning load runs right through that expensive evening peak. A battery that shifts your solar production into the 4-9pm window is offsetting your most expensive hours of the year.
If you are on NEM 2.0 already: adding a battery does not disrupt your grandfathered tariff. Your solar system stays on NEM 2.0. The battery is added as a standalone upgrade under a separate interconnection process, and we handle the paperwork.
