The 2003 Cedar Fire burned through Scripps Ranch, destroying hundreds of homes in the community. The 2007 Witch Creek Fire impacted the broader area. Wildfire awareness here is not abstract. It is memory. Battery backup lets you stay or evacuate on your own terms, not on SDG&E’s schedule.
Scripps Ranch is in SDG&E’s High Fire Threat District. When Santa Ana winds trigger PSPS preventive shutoffs, the grid can be down for 12 to 48 hours. A two-Powerwall setup provides 27 kWh of stored capacity. That covers most Scripps Ranch homes through a full PSPS window with essentials and HVAC running.

Does solar make sense in Scripps Ranch without the ITC?
The federal residential solar ITC expired December 31, 2025. The payback is longer than it was a year ago. That is honest.
SDG&E raised rates 11.6% in January 2026 and more increases are in regulatory review. Scripps Ranch homes are well-positioned for solar because of roof size and good southern exposure in most subdivisions. Eucalyptus shading on some lots is the main variable we design around, and microinverters solve most of it.
Under NEM 3.0, adding a Powerwall changes the economics by letting you self-consume more of what you produce during peak evening hours rather than exporting it at a reduced rate. The battery-plus-solar bundle is the better long-term answer for most Scripps Ranch homes.

What is not yet available is a fully unified Powerwall and Powershare app experience. That is on Tesla's roadmap but not released. If you have a Cybertruck and want V2H set up, we can do the hardware side now. The app integration between Powerwall and Powershare is coming, but we will not promise a date on Tesla's behalf.
