Who Can Service My Commercial Solar System in San Diego?
RCH Renewables. We are a C-10 licensed (#1108682) commercial solar O&M contractor servicing commercial systems from 30kW rooftops to multi-megawatt ground-mount sites across San Diego County, regardless of who installed them. That includes orphaned SunPower-installed systems whose original installers are gone. 148 commercial jobs completed. Landon Raster leads every commercial account.
Your installer went out of business. Do this first.
This happens more than you would think. SunPower filed Chapter 11 in August 2024 and support lines went dark. Whoever your installer was, the steps are the same, and none of them require a contractor yet.
- 1
Locate your as-builts and warranty documents
Single-line diagram, permit set, equipment list, and any manufacturer warranty registrations. If the installer's portal is gone, search your email for PDFs from the original project. These documents make every service visit faster and cheaper.
- 2
Check your monitoring access
Log in to your monitoring portal. If the account was registered under the installer instead of you, contact the inverter manufacturer and request the account be transferred to you as the system owner. You want to own that data before anything else happens.
- 3
Document current production
Export or screenshot the last 12 months of production data if you can reach it. That record becomes the baseline any new service contractor measures against, and it protects you if warranty claims come up later.
- 4
Book a takeover assessment
A licensed contractor walks the site, documents what is actually on the roof, verifies operating status, and writes a maintenance plan from the findings. That is where we come in.
If you want to see what ongoing service looks like after the takeover, the full scope is on our commercial solar O&M services page.
What a takeover assessment includes
Every takeover starts with a paid site assessment. It is our intro offer: flat rates, published here, no quote runaround. Two licensed technicians walk your site and document what is actually there.
- Written condition report documenting all equipment types on site
- Verified system operating status
- Production baseline against original design
- List of deferred maintenance, prioritized
- Written preventive maintenance plan, built after conferring with your equipment manufacturers
The assessment stands on its own. If you sign an O&M contract within 30 days, the full assessment cost is credited back. Contract scope and reporting details are on the commercial solar O&M page.
| Assessment | Rate |
|---|---|
| Truck roll | $175 |
| Technician labor | $200/hr per tech |
| Crew size | Two-tech minimum |
| Time on site | 2-hour minimum |
| Credit | Full cost credited toward an O&M contract signed within 30 days |
Response targets once you are under contract
These are working targets, not marketing numbers. Parts availability is communicated the same day we diagnose a failure.
Brands and systems we service
If it's a commercial solar system, we can work on it. That includes SolarEdge, Enphase, SMA, Fronius, SunPower, and equipment whose manufacturer no longer exists. If you are not sure what inverters your system runs, the site assessment documents it.
Own an orphaned SunPower system? SunPower filed for bankruptcy in August 2024 and thousands of commercial systems lost their service provider. We service SunPower-installed commercial systems regardless of who did the original install.

Commercial service track record
From our job records, July 2026. Clients include a national grocery chain, a nationwide EPC, and a regional healthcare provider. Our largest site work, up to 9.8MW, was performed as a service subcontractor to a national solar operator.
148
Commercial jobs completed
9.8MW
Largest site we've serviced
4,284
Connections inspected on one portfolio, 13.3% defect rate found
978.28kW
Across 9 sites under one active O&M contract
That 13.3% defect rate came from a portfolio nobody had inspected in years. Connections loosen, fuses age, and monitoring dashboards stay green while production slips. That is why the takeover assessment comes first.
Five questions to ask any commercial solar O&M contractor
Ask these of every provider you evaluate, including us. Here is how we answer each one.
Will your own employees do the field work, or subcontractors?
National companies often dispatch the nearest available subcontractor. The person who answers your emergency call may not be the crew that shows up.
RCH answer
Our field work is handled by RCH employees under our C-10 license (#1108682). There is no subcontractor between you and the licensed technician on site.
Which CMMS do you use to track work orders?
If a provider cannot name their CMMS, they are managing O&M on phone calls and memory. That is break-fix with a service line label, not managed O&M.
RCH answer
We use Jobber. Every work order, site visit, and scheduled maintenance job is logged. You can ask to see the job history on your account at any time.
What does your monthly report include?
A generation chart showing kWh is a monitoring summary. It tells you how much the system produced, not whether it is healthy.
RCH answer
Uptime percentage, performance ratio (PR) with baseline comparison, and open tickets by priority and status. If your system's PR is dropping, you will see it in the report.
Can you commit to response times in writing?
Dispatch time and repair completion are two different things. Inverter replacements require parts ordered from the manufacturer. That takes days, not hours.
RCH answer
Our targets: dispatch within one business day for inverter faults, 3-5 business days for standard requests, same-day dispatch for emergencies. Parts ETA communicated the same day as diagnosis. We will not quote a single repair window that pretends parts arrive instantly.
Do you service systems you did not install?
Most local contractors will not touch a system they did not build. That leaves you with limited options when the original installer is gone.
RCH answer
Yes. If it's a commercial solar system, we can work on it: SolarEdge, Enphase, SMA, Fronius, SunPower, and equipment whose manufacturer no longer exists. We take on existing systems regardless of original installer. The paid site assessment documents current condition before service starts.
Get your system back under real service
One takeover assessment tells you what condition your system is in and what it needs. $175 truck roll + $200/hr per tech, two techs, 2-hour minimum. Credited back if you sign an O&M contract within 30 days.
